Eleanor’s Nursery Reveal!

Pottery Barn (7)

Pottery Barn (7)

Between the baby and the book, I’ve been meaning to share this for months! I am so excited to finally reveal our office-to-nursery transformation

If you’ve followed me for a minute, you know I put a lot of ~thought~ into making over this very special space. When we moved into our house three years ago, I was delighted there was a little room off the kitchen that I could turn into my office. I loved my home within our home, and I worked my tail off in there to launch my freelance career. Once So Many Thoughts became a thing, I spent hours talking to you all there, too, filming videos, writing blog posts and responding to DMs.

When we were lucky enough to get pregnant with our third child, I knew I was going to have to give up my space. My older two boys already share a room and I wanted our daughter to have a corner to call her own. But I put off the makeover for months, because I couldn’t (or, if I’m being honest, didn’t!) want to decide what to do with it. Remember this super emosh Insta caption? Which is why I was extra appreciative when Pottery Barn Kids reached out to make the room the most perfect nursery. As a longtime shopper of the San Francisco-based brand (my first “big” purchase after college was a Pottery Barn couch I still have today) it felt like the perfect fit for our family. Matt and I registered for our wedding there and have purchased so many Pottery Barn pieces since, for our home and our kids.

Together with their Design Crew, an awesome service that anyone can use, we put together a room that was equal parts classic, modern, and fun. Like I said, the room is right off our kitchen, highly visible  I wanted it to match the decor of our home, but feel fun and feminine, too. My hopes for wallpaper were dashed by our textured walls, so we decided on a gray-and-white striped accent wall that catches the eye. And then...pink! Pink was a hot topic for me! I was super torn about how much I wanted and where. We kept the shade to the accents (the rug, the throw pillows, the wall art, the linens) that could be swapped out later should Lady Eleanor decide another shade for herself. I learned so much from their experts about adding texture to a room, with the fuzzy throw or the layered rugs (Which is a thing! Who knew! And it looks so chic!).

As for the furniture, we did a lot in a very tiny space. We centered the room around the convertible Kendall Convertible Crib, which is near and dear to my heart, having bought two of them for my boys. The team was also able to make both the Dawson Dresser & Changing Table combo and the Paxton Swivel Glider & Recliner fit. I was a tad skeptical of the white performance fabric, but six months in I can confirm it has fully withstood the spit-up test. I’m sure you’ve spotted the chair in my Instas, it’s my favorite place to sit with Eleanor.

The week before Eleanor’s birth — what can I say, I’m a deadline girl, LOL — they sent a team to install everything. I had a difficult end to my pregnancy, with a lot of pain and worry about her delivery. Her nursery became my happy place, where I would sit and think positive thoughts ahead of her eventual arrival. When she was here, I was thrilled to bring her home to her own special spot. I start each morning in there with her now, nursing her in our own little bubble.

I’m immensely grateful to Pottery Barn for its talented team and generosity in gifting these pieces to us. They returned a few weeks after Eleanor was born to take some beautiful pics, shared below, as well as some video that I spliced together in a collage, also below. (We had a four-week-old and I was just beginning to write my book, so that time was fully a blur. I treasure these little snippets!). They put together a much more sophisticated video, naturally, you can watch here.

I hope you love this room as much as I do! xx E
